I have been passed the baton for collecting family information. My great (x6) grandfather was Peter Orwig. I was wondering if there happens to be anyone, or any place that would have any patch's from Orwigsburg (Fire Dept., Police, Schools, etc,...) that I could put with the family collection I already have?
On Behalf of the Orwigsburg Fire Department, I would like to thank everyone who contributed and/or joined us the day of, to make this year’s Car Show a success. Cordially, Tom Bonner President Orwigsburg Fire Department
Thanks for stopping by the Orwigsburg Online site. Thanks for the feedback and glad you like the site. I just work on the site in my spare time (which I don't have a lot of lately) but I'm hoping people find it useful.
I haven't worked with Joomla but I'll check into it. The original forum was based in phpBB but there were some major security issues a few years ago with phpBB and my hosting provider will no longer allow it to be installed on their servers. I tried the SMF system and it seems to work fairly well for the amount of use the Message Board gets.
I am just seeing if anyone ever checks this place out. I was quite surprised with the forum and website. Whoever spearheaded this did an excellent job. I would have went with Joomla and phpBB, though.
Just stopping by to say hi and I'm looking forward to the car show again this year.
I used to write with Mr. Keith Ernst from Orwigsburg PA in 1998. He used to own a antique truck of Bethlehem make. Now I am visiting my friend in York Spring PA and I wonder if Mr. Ernst is still round and I could meet him and see his rare truck in life.
You may want to look up Jim Orwig or Phil Orwig in orwigsburg. Give them a phone call. They have lived there all their lives and are ancestors to the founder.
Good Luck, it's a fine small town. I now live in Atlanta Georgia but was born there and graduated from High School there in 1953
Hi Ernie. You might want to try the Orwigsburg Historical Society (their is a link to contact information under the Community pages) or the Schuylkill County GenWeb pages at http://www.rootsweb.com/~paschuyl/schuylki.htm
